Overview

Visit Hell’s Gate, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Maasai Mara National Reserve on a 5-day safari from Nairobi, exploring varied landscapes that are home to some of Kenya’s most spectacular wildlife. You’ll have the option to choose from a wide range of additional activities, and included meals and overnights at lodges mean you can experience an authentic safari without giving up creature comforts.

Hell’s Gate: Named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries, the Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric Parks in Africa. Hell’s Gate is an ideal venue for a day trip from Nairobi where, in addition to the bio-diversity that includes raptors, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing and a natural spa.

Lake Nakuru:  On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. It is one of the best locations to enjoy the fabulous water birds and other bird species. It provides a spectacular view the birds from the renowned Baboon Cliff, where you get an excellent view over the lake, and the wonderful spectacle of pink flamingos along its edge. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives.

 

 Maasai Mara: The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is one of the best places in Africa for wildlife viewing. Game drives are a great way to experience the park and they take place all year round Situated in south-west Kenya it is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system.

This 5-Day adventure to live up to the African Safari experience with a wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from the Magnificent Caves and Hill of Hell’s Gate, Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges and the wilderness that is the Masaai Mara Game Reserve. 

 

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi-Hell’s Gate

Our Safari starts by driving to Hell’s Gate National Park. Hell’s Gate National Park lies to the south of Lake Naivasha in Kenya, North West of Nairobi. The park, which is mainly, comprised of savannah ecosystem harbors a wide variety of wildlife. There are over 100 species of birds in the park, including vultures, Verreaux’s Eagles, augur buzzard, and swifts. African buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, and baboons are also common. The park is also home to klipspringer antelope.
Dinner and overnight stay: Camp Carnelleys (Mid-range lodge located near Lake Naivasha)

Day 2: Naivasha-Lake Nakuru National Park

The day will start with an early morning pick up then drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, Across the equator, southwards of Bogoria, lies the Rift Valley’s most famous bird Sanctuary-Lake Nakuru- Known all over the world for its flamingos. The lake’s water is alkaline and it is recognized as being one of the natural wonders of the world. Lake Nakuru is now a rhino sanctuary, harboring a population of over 40 black and over 60 white rhinos, but the flamingoes, of course, represent jewel of the park. At various times of the year, the population of Flamingoes may surpass the 2million mark in the residence, forming a stunningly beautiful deep pink band around the edge of the lake shore.
We will arrive in time for lunch then have an afternoon game drive after a bit of rest.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park-Masaai Mara National Reserve

The day begins with an early morning drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve. The Mara holds on as one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of Wildebeest, Zebras and attendant predators. Arrive in time for lunch then have an afternoon game drive.

Day 4: Masaai Mara

After breakfast we embark on a full day dame drive, with packed lunch provided. The reserve is well known for its black-manned lion, as well as its abundant resident wildlife and its one of the few places where it’s possible to see the big five during a morning’s game drive (at times all of them in the same day). Many of the cheetahs are so tame that they seek shelter from the hot sun under one’s vehicle and several even climb onto the roof to get better view of prospective prey. For the bird enthusiasts, almost 500 species have been recorded: among these are 16 species of eagle, plus many hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks 4 of bustard (including the Kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of sun birds.

Day 5: Masaai Mara -Nairobi

Our final day of our walk in the WILD SIDE begins at 6am with a sun rise game drive. At 9am, we drive back to our accommodation for brunch before departing for Nairobi. Lunch en-route and arrival in Nairobi at late afternoon. Guest will be facilitated to access their flights back home or any other destination.
